Meet the Director – Melissa
Melissa’s journey to becoming a trusted blonde specialist and salon owner on the Gold Coast began in 1999, when she landed her first role at the iconic Queensland salon chain, Stefan Hairdressing. It was there she learned the fundamentals of precision cutting, customer care and salon professionalism, laying the groundwork for what would become a rich and diverse career in hairdressing.
Driven by her passion for creativity and client care, Melissa expanded into freelance mobile hairdressing, offering her full range of cutting, colouring and styling services. She quickly built a loyal client base while also embracing the exciting and fast-paced world of bridal and wedding party hair. From early morning call times to picture-perfect finishes, she became a trusted go-to for brides seeking a calm, capable stylist who could deliver flawless results on their big day.
From there, Melissa expanded into TV production styling. Working behind the scenes with on-screen talent while juggling her ongoing work with everyday clients, many of whom relied on her for expert blonde colouring and balayage transformations.
Her talent even took her to the global stage, where she had the opportunity to support a lead hair stylist at New York Fashion Week. Bringing editorial looks to life in one of the world’s most prestigious and fast-paced fashion environments. Despite the glitz and glamour, Melissa never lost sight of the real reason she loved hairdressing – making everyday women feel confident, beautiful and completely themselves.
In 2020, after more than two decades of dedication, Melissa achieved her dream of opening Melissa Jayne Hair—a warm, relaxed boutique hair salon on the Gold Coast that specialises in blondes, balayage, nanoplasty hair treatments, keratin treatments and hair extensions. Today, her passion, skill and client-first approach continue to shape a salon experience that’s personal, professional and filled with heart.
